Early voting began across Illinois for the 2018 general elections and Richland County received 240 early voters.
So far, registered voters requested 104 mail ballots and 46 were returned.
“The closer to election date, the heavier the return of the vote-by-mail ballots,” Richland County Clerk and Recorder Alice Mullinax said. “I believe the candidates mailing out the actual vote-by-mail applications has made early voting by mail much easier and appealing to the voter.”
Early voting across Illinois started Sept. 27 and will go through Nov. 5, the day before the election.
