Marshall City Council met May 30. 

Here is the minutes as provided by the council:

The regular meeting of the City Council was called to order at 6:30 P.M., with Mayor John Trefz presiding. Upon roll call, all council members were present except Hasten and Wallace. Hasten and Wallace were absent.


Green made a motion, seconded by Strait, to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as written.

Upon roll call, all council members present voted for. Motion carried.

Mayor Trefz gave the State of The City Address

Strait made a motion, seconded by LeFever to approve the Collection, Treasurer, Investment, Police and Building Reports for April 2018. Upon roll call, all council members present voted for. Motion carried.

Strait made a motion, seconded by Tharp, to adopt ORDINANCE NO. 2018-O-09, an Ordinance Setting and Establishing the Rates of Payment for Various Employees of the City of Marshall, IL for the fiscal year commencing the 1st Day of May, 2018 and Ending on the 30th Day of April, 2019. Upon roll call, all council members present voted for. Motion carried.

Tharp made a motion, seconded by Smitley, to approve a street closing request from the MHS Quarterback Club for Saturday, August 11, 2018; Archer Ave., 5th st – 6th st. from 7am – Noon. Upon roll call, all council members present voted for. Motion carried.

Tharp made a motion, seconded by LeFever, to approve the street closing for the National Night Out on Friday, August 10, 2018; Archer Ave., 5th st – 7th st; S. 6th St., Archer Ave – Locust St.; S 5th St., Archer Ave

– Locust St.; Locust St., 5th st – 6th st. Upon roll call, all council members present voted for. Motion carried.

LeFever made a motion, seconded by Smitley, to pay the bills in the amount of $154,410.40. Upon roll call, all members present voted for. Motion carried.

No Executive Session was needed as there was nothing new to discuss at this time.

LeFever made a motion, seconded by Strait to adjourn. Upon roll call, all council members present voted for. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 6:58 p.m.
