Chris Miller has joined fellow Republicans calling for the resignation of House Speaker Mike Madigan (D-Chicago) as the sexual assault scandal engulfing his administration shows no sign of abating.

“I had the privilege to participate in a press conference with current and future Republican state representatives to call for the resignation of Mike Madigan in light of the fourth staff member from his team resigning because of Madigan's sexual misconduct,” Miller, said on Facebook.

Miller is running against Democrat Shirley Bell to represent the 110th District in the Illinois House of Representatives.

Tim Mapes, Madigan’s chief of staff, is the latest to be ensnared in the widening scandal after fellow staffer Sherri Garrett accused him of harassment and bullying. House Deputy Majority Leader Lou Lang (D-Skokie) stepped down from his leadership roles in May after facing similar allegations.

During a recent press conference, current Republican lawmakers and candidates called on state Democrats to stand up against Madigan and change the culture in Springfield.

"The culture in state government is toxic and that is a failure of leadership," Ammie Kessem, House candidate against Rep. Robert Martwick (D-Chicago) for the 19th District, told ABC News.

Rep. Jeanne Ives (R-Wheaton) also called on Democrats to side with the victims and not Madigan.

"We're calling them to band together and do what's right,” she said. “The political culture in Springfield has to change."

Meanwhile, Denise Rotheimer, the first to go public with sexual harassment allegations last fall, recently filed a complaint with the state office responsible for attorney discipline. Rotheimer claims that Madigan and the Ethics Commission broke the law by not filling the vacant position of Legislative Inspector General for nearly three years. At least 27 complaints went unattended during that time.

"We have been harmed; we have been violated; and we could have all been spared this travesty of justice if they would have simply followed the law since they are attorneys," Rotheimer told ABC.
