Paris FD responds to 47 fires in 2017

Paris Fire Department responded to 89 calls in 2017 - 5.3 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Paris included 47 fires - 19 structure fires, seven vehicle fires and 21 other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $362,823 in fire loss - or about $7,720 per fire.

The department also received 41 false calls, including one malicious call and 40 other false calls.

The calls resulted in two civilian fire-related injuries. Additionally, seven fire service members were injured in fire-related incidents.

The Paris Fire Department had an annual budget of $390,211 in 2017.

The Paris Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 14 active employees and 18 retired or inactive employees, was $613,312 in debt as of April 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $18,039 for every fire in 2016.
