During the months of April and May we have had numerous end-of-the-year Special Education IEP meetings. Our special education staff did an excellent job scheduling the meetings to accommodate parents and also to condense the meeting into allotted days to best use the roving substitute teachers. Overall, I am very pleased with the progress that we have made with the special education department in streamlining the entire process. Thank you to our awesome Special Education Staff for all your hard work.

The 4th-Grade classes had a beautiful day on Friday, May 4th, for their annual Conservation Tour around Cumberland County, and lunch at Fox Ridge State Park. Thank you to the Cumberland County Soil and Water Conservation District for sponsoring the trip again this year.

Friday, May 11th, the 2nd Graders performed the play I Need a Vacation. The students did an awesome job!

Our third and final family night was held on May 8th. We had an Art Show that was planned by the 4th Grade teaching team. We had a great turnout. Every student had a work of art on display for the community to see and to be judged. Awards were given to the best of each class, and over all winners. We had cake to celebrate the school’s 50th anniversary. Stang Arts was in the cafeteria and some families had the opportunity to paint a special project. I appreciate all the work that went into preparing for and carrying out the event.

I am very grateful for another very successful school year. It is hard to believe that my third year as principal is coming to a close. Our school is very blessed with hardworking and dedicated staff members. As the year is wrapped up, everyone can look back and be very proud of their accomplishments. We have made so much progress in many areas this year, next year will be even better.

Superintendent Report from Todd Butler

The activity van arrived this week. Graduation reminder: Baccalaureate begins at 2:00 with Graduation starting at 3:00. We will meet and line up in the HS cafeteria at 2:45. If you would like to present a diploma to a family member or family friends child please let Jack and Kevin know prior to the ceremony.

We are in need of new bus radios and handheld radios. Our current radios were purchased over 15 years ago, they’re analog, difficult to reach the outskirts of the district and parts are beginning to get difficult to find. New stationary radios will be 40-45 watt digital and will give us better coverage. We have nursed them along through the last several years. I would like to replace them with our new bus fleet this summer. If there is any concern please let me know.

Asphalt sealcoating is scheduled for June 11th and HS Tuckpointing is scheduled for the week after (June 18). Gym floor refinishing is scheduled for July 23rd. The security system installation project will likely take place in June.
