Olney-Noble Airport is one of six recognized today with a 2018 Airport of the Year award by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT).
Olney-Noble, in Richland County, was named General Aviation Airport of the Year.
“These awards represent the hard work, commitment and dedication that our state’s airports put toward serving the public,” Gov. Bruce Rauner said, according to a press release. “Airports are responsible for billions of dollars in economic activity in Illinois every year. They are serving an important role that makes Illinois a great place to visit and do business.”
The state considers several factors when selecting airports for awards, including how well the airport works with IDOT, as well as its safety record and facility maintenance, among other things.
