City of Altamont City Council met March 26.

Here is the minutes as provided by the council:

The Council of the City of Altamont met in regular session at 6:00 pm on March 26, 2018, in the


Council Chambers of the Municipal Building. The following members were present: Mayor

Jason Rippetoe; Commissioner Richard Frailey; Commissioner Todd Slingerland; Commissioner

Dan Milleville. Also present –Mark Hoskins, Altamont News; Nick Burrus, Milano & Grunloh;

City Clerk Sarah Stephen. Commissioner Jason Williams was absent.

The Omnibus Vote Agenda comprised of prior meeting minutes and payment of bills, was

approved on a motion by Commissioner Slingerland and seconded by Commissioner Milleville.

Members voted as follows: Commissioner Milleville, yes; Commissioner Frailey, yes;

Commissioner Slingerland, yes; Mayor Rippetoe, yes. (Attachment 1)

Nick Burrus, Milano & Grunloh Engineers, reported the EJ Water interconnect is completed; the

engineer RFQ has been scored for the West Division St project; Filter #1 is being backwashed

before carbon is installed, unit is expected to be fully functional no later than next week.

Clerk Stephen provided correspondence from citizens regarding a house on Tower Lane that

received fire damage earlier in the winter. They requested the property be cleaned up. They

complained of the eyesore and the smell created by the fire damage. Alvin Oliver submitted a

written resignation from the Zoning Board effective immediately.

Council awarded the audit bid for fiscal years 2018 thru 2020 to Clifton Larson & Allen on a

motion by Commissioner Slingerland. Commissioner Milleville seconded the motion. Members

voted as follows: Commissioner Milleville, yes; Commissioner Frailey, yes; Commissioner

Slingerland, yes; Mayor Rippetoe, yes. The annual cost will be $21,800 - $22,600 and $23,500

respectively.

Commissioner Slingerland reported the dam relief valve at the reservoir broke. Curry &

Associates will inspect the clear well and water tower for improvement recommendations to

determine the feasibility to repair the clear well and the cost of water tower painting. A

consultant’s report is forthcoming providing recommendations to improve the North Sewer

lagoon. The report is expected to include replacement of air lines.

Commissioner Frailey reported the Electric Department has made repairs at Frog Pond Park. A

broken pole on North 300th caused a partial area outage. BHMG Engineers repaired the south

substation panel and replaced generator #3 thermocouple.

Commissioner Milleville reported all parks are now open for the public. Three diseased shrubs

have been removed near the Union Cemetery Veterans Memorial. New planting are expected

prior to Memorial Day. April 7th is scheduled for the annual Union Cemetery cleanup. As a City

representative during Golden Circle Nutrition’s Elected Officials Week he delivered Meals on

Wheels.

The Altamont Police Department was recognized for their hard work in the arrest of individuals

involved in a counterfeiting crime.

The meeting was adjourned on a motion by Commissioner Slingerland and seconded by

Commissioner Milleville. Members voted as follows: Commissioner Milleville, yes;

Commissioner Frailey, yes; Commissioner Slingerland, yes; Mayor Rippetoe, yes.
