Analysis: Charleston pays $4.73 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Charleston Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 82 percent of the $1,039,887 the Charleston Firefighters Pension Fund brought in last year, or $4.73 for every $1 from pension members, according to a East Central Reporter analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Charleston contributed $853,070 to the fund, which saw a $133,538 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $180,258, or 17.3 percent, in 2016. Another $6,559 came from other unspecified sources.
