Shiloh Community Unit School District 1 Board met January 15.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

President Hales called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM in the Board of Education room.

Present: Tara Duzan, Dana Hales, Renee Henry, April Morris, Brian Rhode, Aaron Richardson, David Smith

Absent: None

Others Present: Superintendent Dr. Allen Hall, Principal Beth Harbaugh, Shannon Smith, Michael Smith, Bill Benner, Gary Henry, Terence Sullivan, Barb Board

President Hales welcomed everyone to the meeting.

Smith moved to move agenda Item X. Executive Session, to after agenda

Item VI. Administrative Reports.

Morris seconded the motion.

Michael Smith presented his platform as a candidate for Superintendent of the Regional Office of Education #11.

Conference Report

Henry reported on the takeaways she had from the IASB/IASA/IASBO Joint Annual Conference including community engagement, legislative issues, ISBE wants to improve funding and a new attitude of service to the districts, revenue ideas, professional development, and Ruby Payne’s session about poverty.

Technology Committee

Superintendent reported the committee had discussed changing the districts web service.

Administrative Reports:

Principal’s Report – Mrs. Beth Harbaugh – distributed her written report noting the following:

Will attend the LOVC meeting this Wednesday followed by a Tri-Country principals meeting.

5th Hour Project is going well with the next session scheduled for January 22.

Winterfest is February 5-10 this year.

February 9th is a School Improvement Day and faculty and staff will participate in a mental health awareness workshop provided by Sarah Bush Lincoln.

MAPS training was held after early dismissal on Tech Tuesday, January 9th.

Superintendent’s Report – Dr. Allen Hall

Contractor recommended purchase of a new hot water heater. Will get additional quotes including a water softener.

Morris moved to adjourn to Executive Session at 7:33 PM to discuss:

The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body or against legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity; and Collective negotiating matters between the public body and its employees or their representatives, and deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees; and

Discussion of minutes of meetings lawfully closed under this Act, whether for purposes of approval by the body of the minutes or semi-annual review of the minutes.

Announcements And Discussion:

Renewal of Sports Co-operative

Some language still needs to be cleared up and the three principals will be meeting on Wednesday to go over those items.

The host school’s school board shall make the decision on hiring/releasing coaches based on the co-operative principals.

We can still allow our students to transport themselves under certain circumstances. Definition of ‘consensus’.
