Kansas, Illinois, police hire war veteran as part-time officer

Vietnam War veteran Ed Motley has become a part-time police officer for the Kansas, Illinois, Police Department, according to a recent Edgar County Watchdogs (ECW) report

Motley spent 25 years in corrections, where he rose to warden at the United States Department of Justice Federal Bureau of Prisons. He also spent two years as deputy commissioner of the Indiana Department of Correction, ECW reports. 

Motley will be part of a team that strives to improve the quality of life for its citizens, safeguard the public and provide leadership through efforts such as promoting personal and professional growth.

According to the ECW, Motley also has 12 years of experience with teaching criminal justice and was Edgar County sheriff for four years.
