Allendale Community Consolidated School District 17 Board of Education met Feb. 15.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

The Board of Education of Allendale School District #17, Wabash County, Illinois, met in regular session on Wednesday, February 15, 2017. The meeting was held at the Allendale School, 101 N. Third Street, Allendale, IL. Acting-President Beth Etzkorn called the meeting to order at 6:15 P.M.

The following members were present: Beth Etzkorn

Richard Gochenour Miles Marcotte Tia Morgan Amanda Thombleson Mike Wilson

Also present was Superintendent Bob Bowser, Secretary Sarah Courter, Treasurer Debbie Hipsher, and guest from the Mt. Carmel Register, Haley Church. Gary Buchanan entered meeting at 6:17 P.M.

Approve Consent Agenda 

Beth Etzkorn made the motion to approve the Consent Agenda as follows: Minutes of the Regular Meeting held Wednesday, January 18, 2017; Minutes of the Closed Session Meeting held Wednesday, January 18, 2017; Financial Reports – Treasurer’s Report, Activity Fund, Imprest Fund; Gross Payrolls, and Bills exclusive of Payroll. Upon said motion being seconded by Tia Morgan, President Gary Buchanan put the question and the roll being called, the following members voted:

Citizens - Haley Church from the newspaper is here reporting on the meeting; received Thank You Note from the Terry Jones family for funeral flowers. 

Staff – None 

Administration – Superintendent Bob Bowser gave updates on the following: Financial Update - State owes us for Transportation, Special Education Personnel, Preschool, etc.; Facility Update; Sports Update- Volleyball has started; Transportation Update; Building Fund Update; Other - Pre-K will have State Audit sometime between March 9-23; Health- Life Safety Items were discussed.

None State Superintendent - None

Old Business -

Discussion of Health/Life Safety Items - Ed Kerkover, our district architect, presented Health/Life Safety issues he has observed. This is necessary in order to update our 10-year Health/Life Safety Plan. No action needed at this time.

New Business -

Approve Wellness Policy

Richard Gochenour made the motion to approve the Wellness Policy as presented. Upon said motion being seconded by Mike Wilson, the voice vote was taken and the motion carried.

Approval of Discard Obsolete/Excess Textbooks 

Richard Gochenour moved to approve the listed items be classified as obsolete/excess textbooks. Upon said motion being seconded by Mike Wilson, the voice vote was taken and the motion carried.

Notice of Intent to Submit FY 2018 Early Chidhood Bloack Grant 

Richard Gochenour moved to approve the superintendent to file the notice of intent to submit a proposal for the FY 2018 Early Childhood Block Grant. Upon said motion being seconded by Beth Etzkorn, the voice vote was taken and the motion carried.

Discussion of Visitors Conduct on School Property Policy 

It is recommended to consider and contemplate what steps the district would like to take regarding this policy. No action is necessary at this time.

Pre-K Aide/Parent Coordinator - Honorable Nonrenewal of Employment 

Richard Gochenour moved to adopt the Resolution of honorable non-renewal concerning the employment of Pre-K Aide/Parent Coordinator Alyssa Hopper, which is a grant-funded position for the 2016-2017 school year. Upon said motion being seconded by Mike Wilson, the President put the question and the roll being called, the following members voted:

Individual Aide - Honorable Nonrenewal of Employment 

Beth Etzkorn moved to adopt the Resolution of honorable non-renewal concerning the employment of the Individual Aide Melissa Gilil. Upon said motion being seconded by Amanda Thombleson, the President put the question and the roll being called, the following members voted:

Employment of Track Coach 

Richard Gochenour moved to approve Rich Casburn as track coach for the 2017 track season. Upon said motion being seconded by Mike Wilson, the President put the question and the roll being called, the following members voted:
