Tuscola ranked 578th in state in lottery ticket sales for February 2016

The City of Tuscola had the 578th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of February 2016 -- up 22 spots from its January ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Tuscola was $14.49 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the East Central Reporter, Tuscola generated $64,376.50 in net sales from its six lottery retailers in February 2016, compared to $87,467.50 in February 2015.

The City of Tuscola is in Douglas County, and has a population of 4,443, according to 2010 census data.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in February 2016 was $13,320.46.

Tuscola's top lottery retailer is Circle K #1338 located at 314 E Southline Rd, Tuscola, IL 61953.

Circle K #1338 generated 25 percent of Tuscola's February 2016 lottery ticket sales and 8 percent of Douglas County's sales that month, which was $213,127.50.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in Douglas County in 2015 were Arcola, Tuscola, Newman, Villa Grove and Atwood.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
