Here are the meeting minutes as provided by the Arcola High School board:

Special Board Meeting Minutes

August 24, 2016

The special board meeting was called to order at 6:00 pm on August 24, 2016. Board Members Present: Dr. Robert Arrol, Jim Crane, Sue Stout, Ginger Kielhorn, Randy Rothrock, Chad Strader and Traci Watson. School Staff Present: Tom Mulligan, Superintendent; Lisa Sigrist, JHVHS Principal

Dr. Mulligan reviewed the overall purpose of the meeting, which was to continue working on creating a vision for the school district. He explained the difference between a mission statement, vision statement, core values and strategic objectives.

Dr. Mulligan then presented survey data that was received from parents, community members, and Staff members regarding the district vision statement. The group reviewed the data and engaged in several conversations about the meaning of the data and how the results apply to creating a district vision,

The group then created a list of critical pieces they feel need to be included in the district vision, They also discussed that the vision needs to flow from the district mission statement that was created several years ago. After creating the list, they decided that Dr. Mulligan would create a starting point example and present to the board at the next regular board meeting for discussion.

The meeting adjourned at 8:30 pm.
