The Charleston City Council voted to release transcripts of closed-session meetings and to destroy any audio or video recordings of these meetings at its regular meeting on Jan. 19.
The council approved installation of stop signs, a request for an increase in the number of special-use permits, the construction of a telecommunications cell tower and antennae, and the repurposing of a former wastewater treatment plant.
The council also appointed Robert “Bob” Newell to a three-year term on the Charleston Carnegie Library Board of Trustees; reappointed Kit Morice to a three-year term on the Historic Preservation Commission; and reappointed Lexe Volk and appointed Jill Nilsen to five-year terms on the Board of Zoning Appeals & Planning.
The board then heard public comments.
Hadley Phillips thanked the council for its progressive outlook regarding the waiving of permit fees; and John Dallas echoed appreciation of the permit-fee waiver, distributing apples to the mayor and council.
