Murdock Township in Douglas County responded to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request after an initial delay. The request, submitted on October 19, 2025, sought records related to the township highway commissioner.

The response was provided on October 30, 2025, following the overdue period. This compliance came amid ongoing concerns about the highway commissioner’s eligibility for office. According to information from Edgar County Watchdogs, the commissioner continues to receive payment despite living in Coles County rather than within Murdock Township’s jurisdiction.

The township board has not declared a vacancy or appointed a new highway commissioner. As of October 31, 2025, the Douglas County State’s Attorney is reviewing whether to file charges concerning allegations that the current highway commissioner submitted an invalid voter registration form. Edgar County Watchdogs stated: "We believe a simple quo-warranto action could resolve this matter, which would remove him from office."
