U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has announced that it has lodged an arrest detainer for Edwin Pacheco-Meza, a 34-year-old undocumented immigrant from Honduras, who is accused of causing the deaths of Michael Clayton, a Coles County Board Member, and his wife, Gail Clayton, in Illinois. The incident occurred during a car crash while Pacheco-Meza was allegedly driving under the influence.

Authorities reported finding an extended magazine, ammunition, drugs, and an open container in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Local law enforcement arrested both the driver and the passenger. Juan Morales-Martinez, an 18-year-old undocumented immigrant from Guatemala who was also in the car, faces charges of drug possession and a weapons offense.

Pacheco-Meza has been charged with reckless homicide and driving under the influence. ICE stated that it took action following the incident involving the two Illinois residents.
