State Representative Brad Halbrook (R-Shelbyville) invited Bishop Kyle Blackerby, senior pastor at Catch the Fire Church in Cowden, to deliver the opening prayer on the House Floor before a recent legislative session in Springfield.

“I was pleased to invite Pastor Kyle Blackerby to Springfield to deliver the opening prayer before the legislature began our work,” said Rep. Halbrook. “Bishop Blackerby gave an uplifting message, and I am glad he was able to join me in Springfield.”

Bishop Blackerby has served as lead pastor at Catch the Fire Church since April 2011. He is the sixth guest pastor invited by Rep. Halbrook to give the opening prayer during the 2025 legislative session.

Halbrook, a Republican, was elected in 2023 to represent Illinois' 107th House District, succeeding former state representative Blaine Wilhour.

Community members interested in delivering an invocation during the Spring Session are encouraged to contact Rep. Halbrook’s Springfield office at (217) 782-8398. For other inquiries, his office can be reached at (217) 342-0220 or through his website at RepHalbrook.com.
