An off-duty Bolingbrook Police Officer, Sal Davi, was involved in a road rage incident in Oswego, Illinois, in February. According to police reports, the incident began when a Plainfield resident accused Davi of pointing a firearm at him during a traffic dispute. Both individuals called 9-1-1 following the confrontation.

Davi admitted to retrieving his firearm but denied pointing it at the other driver. When officers from the Oswego Police Department arrived on the scene, they ordered Davi out of his private vehicle and placed him in handcuffs. During this time, Davi reportedly berated responding officers and shouted profanities at the other driver.

There are unconfirmed reports that Davi used a racial slur during the incident. The alleged use of this language is said to be captured on body camera footage; however, both the Oswego and Bolingbrook Police Departments have declined to release these videos. The Edgar County Watchdogs plan to file a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit seeking access to this material.

Following the incident, Davi received a Letter of Reprimand detailing his actions. It appears that no formal adjudication board reviewed the case. Under Illinois' Freedom of Information Act, investigative materials such as body camera footage may be subject to public release if not reviewed by an official board.

At this time, there is no record indicating that Officer Davi has been charged with any crime related to this event. Updates are expected once legal efforts to obtain additional documentation progress.
