State Representative Brad Halbrook has introduced a resolution to designate September 12, 2025 as The Day of the Bible in Illinois. The proposed resolution, HR 474, calls on schools, civic groups, churches, and community organizations across the state to observe the day with educational and cultural activities that highlight the Bible’s role throughout history.

“The Bible has served as a profound influence on both our state and nation since their foundings,” said Rep. Halbrook. “The Bible not only serves as a spiritual guide, but a moral guide, helping to shape many of our core American values. In recognizing the Bible’s role in our nation and state’s heritage, we are reaffirming the importance of faith and religion. I encourage all Illinoisans to join me in commemorating September 12th as The Day of the Bible here in Illinois.”

Halbrook filed the resolution last week. Updates on its progress can be found at ilga.gov. For further information or to contact Rep. Halbrook, residents can call (217) 342-0220 or visit RepHalbrook.com.

Halbrook is a Republican who was elected to represent Illinois’ 107th House District in 2023 after succeeding Blaine Wilhour.
