Village of Arthur Economic Development and Tourism Committee met July 21.
Here are the minutes provided by the committee:
The meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm. In attendance were Trustees Matt Bernius, Christy Bernius, Mike Hilgenberg, Isai Gutierrez, Kurt Hall, and Lamar Miller. Mayor Rod Randall, Chief Tinnion and Sharilyn Kibler-Russell were also in attendance.
New Business
Sharilyn presented the ABATE of Illinois fall swap to the board. Since the board is unfamiliar with this event, she went over what the games are and what is all at the event. They will have couple food vendors, bands, DJ, vendors, parts and bike games. Some will arrive on Thursday night and they will be done on Sunday. The event will be held on park grounds and will use fair buildings. It will be near the south end of Jurgens Park and towards the hill. The event will have 7 security guys that walk the ground and monitor. Orange fencing will be put up. They will potentially serve alcohol; discussion was had about permits needed for that.
The park and fair boards have approved the event.
The event will use social media, radio, and television for advertising.
Participants will camp in tents and campers but will also use hotel rooms.
They are anticipating spending around $6250 and are asking for 20% for a total of $1,250 from
the Local Tourism Grant.
After understanding the event more, the committee recommended taking the request to the board for approval in the amount of $1,250.
Meeting was adjourned at 6:59.
