Will County Board Member Jackie Traynere faces a new charge related to an incident earlier this year in which she allegedly struck a child riding a bicycle in a crosswalk. According to the Will County court docket, Traynere was charged on August 18, 2025, with failure to yield right of way to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

Traynere is scheduled to appear in court in early September regarding this charge.

The incident occurred on March 11, 2025. Police reports state that after the accident, Traynere left the scene and drove to the Bolingbrook Police Station. At the station, she told officers that she had been stopped at a red light while a child was crossing the street on his way to school. She said she began moving when the left turn arrow turned green and saw a child fall off his bicycle. According to her statement, she was unsure if she had struck him. She reported checking on him before leaving the scene and then going to the police department. Officers observed that her car had a dent and large scratch on its hood, which Traynere did not explain.

The child involved told police he was crossing at the crosswalk while the “walk” indicator was illuminated when Traynere’s blue car hit him from the side. Another child present at the scene confirmed this account.
