Tom Bariether of Mattoon has made another donation to the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Foundation in memory of his mother, Celia Bariether. The contribution, timed to coincide with what would have been her 91st birthday on August 11, is designated for the Regional Cancer Center.

“My parents—Hezzy and Celia— were special people and since they’re no longer with us, I make donations in their memory on special occasions,” Tom Bariether said. “It’s the perfect way to honor our loved ones while helping those battling cancer—something my mom had to do.”

Bariether has previously donated in honor of his parents around Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, his father’s birthday, and their wedding anniversary.

Amy Card, director of the SBL Health Foundation, commented on Bariether's ongoing support. “I didn’t know Hezzy and Celia, but knowing Tom, they had to have been wonderful people,” Card said. “It’s so incredibly kind and generous of him to honor his parents like this and at the same time, help numerous people during their battles with cancer. Funds have been used to help patients pay for items associated with their care, including radiation burn cream that’s so important to use both before and after treatment, but isn’t covered by insurance. We are so grateful to Tom for helping so many others.”
