City of Arcola City Council met May 19.
Here are the minutes provided by the council:
Mayor Garza called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Members present were Alderpersons Moreno, Budd, Hensley and Helmuth. City Administrator Wagoner and Treasurer Anderson were also present. Not present were Alderpersons Henson and Foran and Attorney Petty.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Alderman Moreno led the council and audience in the Pledge of Allegiance.
PUBLIC COMMENT Adam Kremer from Milano & Grunloch Engineers, LLC gave an update on the Libman Street Improvements; DCEO Grant for sanitary sewer improvements; RIPI; Downtown Grant; State Legislative Grant (Arcola Center) and Tank Mixers.
Sharilyn Kibler spoke on Motorcycle Awareness Month and also stated there is a huge problem with cars racing in town.
APPROVAL OF MAY 05, 2025 COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES Alderwoman Helmuth moved to approve the May 05, 2025 council meeting minutes as presented and was seconded by Alderman Hensley. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.
APPROVAL OF MAY 03, 2025 THROUGH MAY 16, 2025 BILLS Alderwoman Helmuth moved to approve the May 03, 2025 – May 16, 2025 bills as presented and was seconded by Alderman Budd. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.
CONSIDER AND APPROVE PAY REQUEST NO. 4 – LIBMAN STREET
RECONSTRUCTION ($254,622.20) Alderman Hensley moved to approve Pay Request No. 4 in amount of $254,622.20 for the Libman Street reconstruction. Alderman Budd seconded the motion. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.
CONSIDER AND APPROVE MODIFICATION TO INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT – DOUGLAS COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT Alderman Budd moved to approve modification to Intergovernmental Agreement – Douglas County Economic Development. Alderman Moreno seconded the motion. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

Alderman Hensley Reported the Budget & Finance Committee met prior to this meeting and
discussed the request from Arcola
Country Store for Business District
Façade for a store sign.
Alderwoman Helmuth Had nothing at this time.
As this concluded the business of the meeting, Alderman Hensley moved to adjourn and was seconded by Alderman Moreno. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.
