Chris Miller, the representative for Illinois' 101st House District, expressed his embarrassment over Governor J.B. Pritzker's efforts to secure a presidential nomination while the state grapples with financial challenges.
"I'm fighting back against the radical Democrats who are destroying our state and putting Illinois citizens last," said Chris G. Miller, State Representative for 101st District (R), according to Facebook. "It's embarrassing that Pritzker is running around the country campaigning for President while Illinois is financially and morally broke. Families and businesses are leaving this state in droves because of bad policies. Pritzker is definitely not ready for prime time."
Miller shared a link to a WTTW report detailing Governor Pritzker's signing of the fiscal year 2026 budget into law. The budget, which takes effect on July 1, relies heavily on new taxes to achieve balance. According to the report, it includes $700 million in new taxes and more than $500 million in one-time revenues. These new taxes target out-of-state businesses selling to Illinois residents, sports betting, and increases on tobacco, vaping, and nicotine products. Additionally, short-term rentals will be subject to the Illinois hotel operators’ tax.

Governor Pritzker recently testified before the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Reform regarding Illinois' sanctuary city policies. Alongside New York Governor Kathy Hochul and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Pritzker discussed his stance on immigration.
According to CBS News, Pritzker emphasized his support for safe and compassionate immigration policies during his testimony. "My own family owes everything to this country accepting a young refugee named Nicholas Pritzker to its shores over a century ago," he said. "As I have consistently said, violent criminals have no place on our streets, and if they are undocumented, I want them out of Illinois and out of our country."
Chris Miller was first elected to the Illinois State House of Representatives in 2019. An Illinois native from Hindsboro, he is a third-generation cattle farmer and grain operator. Miller holds an associate degree in agriculture from Lake Land College and a Bachelor of Science in Education.
