Governor JB Pritzker recently testified before the U.S. House Oversight Committee, addressing Illinois' immigration policies. State Representative Chris Miller criticized the Governor's testimony, calling it an embarrassment for Illinois.
Miller expressed concern over the state's approach to handling illegal immigrants, stating: “Under JB Pritzker’s radical reign, Illinois has become the go-to destination for illegal immigrants, where they receive free food, free housing, free healthcare, and more – all on the taxpayer’s dime.” He argued that these policies have negatively impacted working families in Illinois.
According to Miller, since 2022, Illinois taxpayers have spent over $3 billion on services for illegal immigrants. This figure excludes education costs and other services. The state is home to at least 530,000 illegal immigrants, which adds a significant financial burden on taxpayers each year.
Miller further criticized both Governor Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson for allegedly encouraging unvetted immigration into the state. He stated: “I’m fighting back against the radical Democrats who are destroying our state and putting Illinois citizens last.” He pledged to prioritize policies benefiting Illinois citizens over those aiding illegal immigrants.
He also commented on Pritzker's potential presidential aspirations: “It’s embarrassing that Pritzker is running around the country campaigning for President while Illinois is financially and morally broke.”
