Village of Arthur Water & Sewer – Streets & Alleys Joint Committee met May 13.

Called to Order 9:00 AM

Roll Call - Rod Randall, Matt Bernius, Isai Gutierrez, Grant Corum, Andy Hanfland

Public Comment - None

New Business

1. Discussion on a future potable water system was led by Andy H. of Farnsworth Group. The option of a future co-op being formed to provide higher quality drinking water to the Village of Arthur was discussed. Other water entities such as West Prairie Water, Moultrie County Water District, Clearwater Water District, City of Tuscola, Village of Arcola, and the Village of Atwood may also have an interest in forming a future co-op as well. The co-op would include 1 large water treatment facility that would pipeline potable drinking water to all entities in the co-op.

The possibility of Federal and State dollars to assist in funding the venture were discussed. The committee then asked if a feasibility study would be the next step in this long range plan. Andy H. suggested having a centralized meeting with all entities to discuss financial obligations of a feasibility study. It was suggested by Matt B. that those financial obligations be based on the number of services per entity. Rod R. and Matt B. offered to host the meeting of entities in Arthur. Andy H. was going to reach out to the other entities and try to find some dates that would accommodate all involved.
