Adam Niemerg, a state representative for Illinois House District 102, has criticized Governor J.B. Pritzker, claiming the governor is more focused on a potential presidential run than addressing issues affecting Illinois residents, particularly concerning illegal immigration.
"Today, J.B. Pritzker showed just how out of touch he is with the people of Illinois when he testified before Congress," said Adam M. Niemerg, State Representative for 102nd District (R). "He and Tim Walz aren't focused on solving real problems—they're too busy auditioning for the role of President. At one point, JB proudly declared, “I will stand in the way of Tom Homan. That says it all."
On June 12, Governor Pritzker, alongside New York Governor Kathy Hochul and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, testified about their states' sanctuary city policies. According to CBS News, Pritzker expressed his support for safe and compassionate immigration policies. "My own family owes everything to this country accepting a young refugee named Nicholas Pritzker to its shores over a century ago. As I have consistently said, violent criminals have no place on our streets, and if they are undocumented, I want them out of Illinois and out of our country," said Pritzker during his opening remarks on Illinois sanctuary laws.

Axios reported that while the hearing was meant to focus on sanctuary laws, much of the discussion shifted towards border security and whether Democratic governors support illegal immigration. The deployment of the National Guard to Los Angeles was also discussed. Committee Chair Representative Mary Miller concentrated on a fatal car crash involving a young Illinois woman and an undocumented immigrant who was allegedly drunk and fled the scene.
Niemerg continued his critique of Governor Pritzker’s testimony before the House Oversight Committee on Government Reform in a post on X. He wrote that Pritzker’s main priority is blocking immigration enforcement despite migrants being required to enter the country legally. Niemerg expressed gratitude towards President Donald Trump for standing up for the rule of law and prioritizing Americans first, adding that he will stand with border czar Tom Homan.
Niemerg has been serving in the Illinois General Assembly since January 2021. He resides in Dieterich with his wife and children. Outside his legislative duties in Springfield, Niemerg works as a senior claims adjuster with Country Financial and is involved with the Farm Bureau.
