Chris Miller, representative for Illinois House District 101, said that Illinois residents have had their quality of life "destroyed" because Democrats are allocating funds to illegal immigrants instead of focusing on individuals who live and work in the state legally.

"Illinois taxpayers will have spent over $2.5 billion on migrant care by the end of 2025," said Chris G. Miller, State Representative for 101st District (R), according to Facebook. "The quality of life for Illinois families has been shattered because of the radical Democrats handing out money to illegals! In just a couple days, Pritzker will have to answer to Congress about his protections for illegals."

According to Illinois Policy, the administration under Governor J.B. Pritzker is spending billions annually on illegal immigrants. An article shared by Representative Miller on his Facebook page details $2.5 billion in tax-funded expenditures. This includes $1.6 billion for healthcare programs targeted at immigrants and $478 million annually since 2023 allocated to the Welcoming with Dignity Initiative, which funds migrant welcome centers, resettlement services, and rental and food assistance.

A February audit from the Office of the Auditor General revealed significant cost overruns in Illinois’ healthcare programs for immigrants. For adults aged 42-54, the actual cost was $224 million—84% higher than the $68 million estimate. Similarly, healthcare for immigrant adults aged 55-64 cost $223.1 million, nearly four times the $58.4 million projection. The program for immigrant seniors 65 and older also exceeded expectations, costing $412.3 million compared to the estimated $224 million.

Governor Pritzker is scheduled to testify before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform on June 12 regarding Illinois’ sanctuary city policies, according to a June 5 press release. The hearing will focus on sanctuary state governors and will also feature New York Governor Kathy Hochul and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.

Miller was first elected to the Illinois State House of Representatives in 2019 and is an Illinois native. He is a third-generation cattle farmer and grain operator in Hindsboro. He earned an associate degree in agriculture from Lake Land College; and has a Bachelor of Science in Education, according to his official biography.
