State Representative Brad Halbrook recently engaged with students from Pana Elementary School during their visit to the Capitol on May 13th for Students for Innovation: Advocacy Day. This event, organized by the Illinois Digital Educators Alliance, aims to unite students from kindergarten through 12th grade in advocating for educational funding that supports creative and problem-solving learning environments.
Representative Halbrook expressed his enthusiasm after meeting with Kim Hahnenkamp’s class, stating, “It was great to meet with Kim Hahnenkamp’s class and see their final project. I enjoyed speaking with the students and hearing about their passion for innovation in the classroom and seeing how engaged they are with advocacy for technology education. This group of students has a bright future ahead of them.”
The day provided an opportunity for students, educators, and lawmakers to connect over the importance of technology education. Leading the student group was Kim Hahnenkamp, a K-5 Technology Integration Specialist at Pana Elementary.
