State Representative Chris Miller, along with his Republican colleagues, held a press conference to address concerns over what they describe as wasteful spending by progressive Democrats in Illinois. Miller criticized the allocation of funds to Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) and illegal immigrants, calling it an example of reckless financial management.
"Illinois is in a state of disaster due to bad public policy and reckless spending by progressive Democrats who use taxpayer funds to reward non-government organizations who push their radical agenda," stated Miller. He emphasized the need for a new direction through the adoption of Illinois DOGE initiatives.
Miller pointed out that despite significant expenditures on NGOs, illegal immigrants, and an underperforming educational system, Democrats in Illinois continue their unsustainable fiscal practices. He argued that taxpayers have the right to know how their money is being utilized and proposed the creation of an Illinois Department of Government Efficiency to provide transparency on agency spending.
House Bill 1266, supported by Miller, aims to establish this department within the Office of the Auditor General. The bill would empower the department to conduct audits and investigations into state agency expenditures.
"Families in Illinois are struggling with economic hardships created by poor public policy and Pritzker has done absolutely nothing to improve the quality of life for the citizens of this state," said Miller. He reaffirmed his commitment to legislation prioritizing Illinois citizens while criticizing Democrats for not addressing excessive spending.
