Blaine Wilhour, the state representative for Illinois House District 110, said the state legislature should repeal the TRUST Act and prioritize Illinois families.

"Illinois' failed sanctuary state policies have to go," said Blaine Jacob Wilhour, State Representative for 110th District (R), according to Facebook. "Let's repeal the TRUST Act and put Illinois families first."

Wilhour shared a link on Facebook to an Advantage Illinois article regarding U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s visit to Illinois on May 7. During her visit, Noem criticized the state's immigration laws and highlighted the 2023 murder of Emma Shafer, a progressive activist in Springfield. According to Noem, Shafer was allegedly killed by a Mexican national who has not been arrested and may have fled the country.

The Quad-City Times reported on Noem’s visit, which took place near the site of Emma Shafer’s death. During her visit, a friend of the murdered activist shouted when Noem invoked Shafer’s name. Noem also visited a federal processing center where two individuals were being detained. Governor J.B. Pritzker criticized the visit, describing it as a publicity stunt. "Unlike Donald Trump and Kristi Noem, Illinois follows the law," Pritzker said. "The Trump Administration is violating the United States Constitution, denying people due process, and disappearing law-abiding neighbors — including children who are U.S. citizens. Yet, they are taking no real action to promote public safety and deport violent criminals within the clear and defined legal process."

Wilhour has represented Illinois' 110th District since 2019. A lifelong resident of Illinois, he served in the Illinois Army National Guard from 1999 to 2005 and deployed to Europe in 2002 as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. His political experience includes a term on the Fayette County Board. Wilhour is also a managing partner at his family’s post-frame construction company in Effingham County.
