Chris Miller, a state representative for Illinois' 101st District, expressed his views on gender following the United Kingdom's Supreme Court ruling that recognized only two genders: male and female. He conveyed his stance in a Facebook post.

"Man is man- woman is woman- there is no middle ground for a made up gender," said Chris G. Miller, State Representative for 101st District (R), according to Facebook.

Miller's post linked to a report by KPTV about the UK Supreme Court’s decision, which defines a woman as someone born biologically female. The ruling emerged from a dispute between For Women Scotland and the Scottish government. The court's unanimous 5-0 decision indicated that under the UK Equality Act, trans women can be excluded from certain groups and single-sex spaces such as changing rooms, homeless shelters, swimming areas, and women-only medical or counseling services. However, it also affirmed that trans individuals are protected from discrimination under UK law. The semi-autonomous Scottish government accepted this ruling.

According to Kishwer Falkner, chair of the Equality and Human Rights Commission, while trans individuals can advocate for gender-neutral spaces like unisex toilets or changing rooms, "the law is clear that they should not use single-sex facilities." Following the court's decision, the National Health Service will need to update its guidance on single-sex medical wards to ensure they are based on biological sex rather than accommodating individuals based on presentation, names, or pronouns. This information was reported by CNN World on April 19. Additionally, the British Transport Police confirmed that same-sex searches in custody will be conducted according to detainees' biological sex.

Miller is an Illinois native who was first elected to the Illinois State House of Representatives in 2019. A third-generation cattle farmer and grain operator in Hindsboro, he holds an associate degree in agriculture from Lake Land College and a Bachelor of Science in Education.
