House Bill 1352, accompanied by House Floor Amendment No. 2, has passed the Illinois House of Representatives with a unanimous vote. The Bill now moves forward to the Senate for deliberation and a vote.

Under this legislative proposal, an amendment to the Illinois Military Veterans Assistance Act would be instituted. The amendment enables the formation of multi-county Veterans Assistance Commissions (VAC) for counties that choose to do so, provided they fall within the same judicial circuit.

At present, individual counties have the ability to establish their own VACs. However, for smaller counties, maintaining a single-county VAC is often not economically sustainable. This Bill aims to alleviate such financial constraints by allowing multiple counties within a single judicial circuit to collaborate in supporting their veterans.
