Scott's Law, known as Illinois' Move Over law, instructs drivers to reduce speed and change lanes when approaching a stationary vehicle displaying hazard or emergency lights. This regulation aims to enhance the safety of first responders, road workers, and other drivers.

Rep. Halbrook emphasized the importance of this law, stating: "If you see lights, move over. This is a simple act that makes a large impact and helps to ensure the safety of everyone involved." He also highlighted that in 2024, there were 27 crashes attributed to Scott’s Law violations in Illinois, a figure that he believes should be reduced to zero.

Further information on Scott's Law violations is available.
