City of Casey City Council met March 3.

Monday March 3rd, 2025 beginning at 6:00 p.m. Mayor Mike Nichols was present and called the meeting to order. David Craig led the pledge of allegiance.
Roll Call:
Present: Alderman Brown
Alderman Hanley
Alderman Jenkins
Alderman Mumford
Alderman Richardson
Alderman Wilson
Absent: None
A quorum was declared.
Public Forum:
Patty Richards was present and asked about a Founders Day Parade on May 10th, 2025. We will have a resolution at the next meeting for this parade. Nancy Spurgeon had a complaint about her neighbor.
Lori Romanelli asked for an update on 2 properties next to her.
Community Affairs:

Meeting Minutes:
Mayor Nichols looked for approval of the minutes of the February 18th, 2025 City Council Meeting.
Alderman Jenkins motioned approval of the minutes of the February 18th, 2025 City Council Meeting, seconded by Alderman Brown.
Upon roll call the vote was:
Ayes: 6 – Brown, Hanley, Jenkins, Mumford, Richardson and Wilson
Nays: 0 – None
Motion declared carried
Officers Reports:
Clerk Mumford presented the February 2025 Bills Paid in the amount of $914,376.81 for approval.
Alderman Mumford motioned approval of February 2025 Bills paid, seconded by Alderman Richardson.
Upon roll call the vote was:
Ayes: 6 – Brown, Hanley, Jenkins, Mumford, Richardson and Wilson
Nays: 0 – None
Motion declared carried
Treasurer Lorton presented the February 2025 Treasurer’s Collection Deposit report in the amount of $685,372.37 for approval.
Alderman Wilson motioned approval of the February 2025 Treasurer’s Collection Deposit Report, seconded by Alderman Mumford.
Upon roll call the vote was:
Ayes: 6 – Brown, Hanley, Jenkins, Mumford, Richardson and Wilson
Nays: 0 – None

Superintendent Biggs reported that the electrical department got called out yesterday at 9:00 a.m. for a power outage and they worked until about 9:30 p.m. He thanked them for the work they did. Water rate study should be done next week. Park mowing bids are out and will be opened on March 17th, 2025 at 2:00 p.m.
Chief Henderson reported that Office Bennett has submitted his letter of resignation. Our current recruit is halfway through the Academy and Officer Reed will be done with his FTO around April 1st.
Economic Development Director Daughhetee reported on the conference he attended last week, the Rural Community and Economic Development conference. He is excited to move forward with economic development ideas in Casey. Friday the Chamber of Commerce will be having a Chamber Chat program. The Clark County Enterprise Zone board will be meeting soon to talk about adding residential properties to the zone. This Thursday is the first meeting for the CEO program, and he also talked about the ribbon cutting ceremony at the park with the walking path.
New Business:
Alderman Richardson reported on the Ordinance meeting they held before the council meeting. Tracy will put together an ordinance change to the liquor ordinance and present it to the council for approval at a later date.

Alderman Richardson asked if we were planning on how to spend our Business District money and asked for the Economic Development committee to meet soon to decide.
Mayor Report:
Mayor Nichols went over his current projects, including having the police enforce junk rubbish and debris ordinances. Gave a park pond project update and will be having a meeting soon about the Park recreational area update.
There was no further Business of the City Council for the March 3rd, 2025 Council Meeting.
