A Cook County judge has ordered that Nate Fields' name be included on the ballot for Thornton Township Supervisor as an independent candidate in the upcoming election. The decision came after objections were raised against Fields' nominating papers by individuals associated with current Supervisor Tiffany Henyard.

The controversy centered around whether a Statement of Candidacy needed to be attached to petition sheets. Despite no legal requirement for such attachment, the Thornton Township Electoral Board had previously upheld the objection, leading to Fields' removal from the ballot.

Fields challenged this ruling, and Judge John T. Tully, Jr. reversed the board's decision in a six-page order, allowing Fields to run for office.
