The recent Thornton Township Meeting of the Electors saw a significant turnout at South Suburban Community College. The gathering aimed to elect a new township trustee following a resignation several months prior. Despite starting slightly late to accommodate attendees, the meeting proceeded under the guidance of Township Clerk and newly elected Moderator Prince Reed.

During the meeting, nominations for candidates were made. Stephanie Wiedeman was nominated and received strong support, while other nominees included Charles Rayburn and Carol Cook, who was favored by Supervisor Tiffany Henyard.

Following a vote moderated by Reed, Wiedeman emerged as the clear choice with an overwhelming majority of votes from the electors. This outcome was seen as a decisive move against Henyard's influence within the township. Wiedeman was sworn into office immediately after her victory was announced.

The event was broadcast live on Dolton Trustees' YouTube page, allowing for broader public access to this significant community decision.
