FOIA Request to Cumberland County Clerk Regarding 2025 Consolidated Elections Candidates on January 14, 2025.
In our continued efforts to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at East Central Reporter have sent a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) to the Cumberland County Clerk.
The request specifically seeks a list of candidates running for the upcoming 2025 Consolidated Elections. The requested information includes the candidate's name, the date they filed their candidacy, and the office they are running for.
As a media organization, we believe in holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional.
