Court holds Dolton mayor in direct criminal contempt over liquor license dispute

During a recent court hearing, Tiffany Henyard, the Mayor of Dolton, Illinois, was held in "Direct Criminal Contempt" for her refusal to sign liquor licenses for a local business as ordered by the court. The judge clarified that this contempt charge should be noted as "direct" rather than "indirect," correcting an earlier docket entry.

The village and Henyard have been given 14 days to submit a written response regarding the contempt issue. This includes addressing Henyard's claim that no package liquor licenses are available, despite assertions from the Village Clerk indicating otherwise.

In a related matter, although not part of the day's proceedings, Jedidiah Brown received Emergency Orders of Protection against Thornton Township Supervisor Tiffany Henyard and her married boyfriend following an altercation at a recent township board meeting.
