Richland County taxpayers ranked 53rd in total sales taxes paid per county in October 2024, according to Illinois tax records.

In total, Richland County residents paid $358,418 in sales taxes during October 2024.

Richland County ranked 55th in the Prairie State the month before, with $283,989 spent in sales taxes.

The County School Facility Tax accounted for the largest share of sales taxes paid by Richland County residents in October 2024.

As of 2021, Illinois was the highest taxed state in the US. A study from Wallet Hub found Illinois taxes were 39.83% higher than the national average.
