State Representative Brad Halbrook (R-Shelbyville) has released a statement expressing his condolences following the death of former Illinois Governor Jim Edgar, who passed away after battling cancer.

“I extend my deepest condolences to the friends and family of former Governor Edgar. Governor Edgar led with courage and public service at his core, working beyond party lines often. Governor Edgar dedicated many years to bettering the State of Illinois, and it was a privilege to know him. During this difficult time, I will continue to pray for his family and loved ones, and I ask others to do the same as they grieve the loss of a truly respected leader,” Halbrook said.

Halbrook was elected as a Republican representative for Illinois' 107th House District in 2023, succeeding Blaine Wilhour.
