The Illinois House of Representatives adopted its parliamentary rules for the 104th General Assembly on Tuesday. The decision saw all Republican members voting against the proposal. These rules closely resemble those used during the tenure of former House Speaker Michael Madigan, who is currently facing trial for charges including racketeering, bribery, and corruption.

Republicans argue that these rules suppress the voices of more than 4 million Illinois residents represented by their party. Representative Halbrook actively advocated for changes on the House Floor, emphasizing the need for increased transparency for Illinois citizens.
