State Representative Chris Miller (R-Hindsboro) has expressed concerns over legislation in Illinois that he claims would offer additional protection to illegal immigrants. The bill, House Bill 5164, is currently awaiting a vote in the Senate after passing in the Illinois House. According to Rep. Miller, this legislation could hinder efforts to locate individuals who commit crimes in the state.

"Pritzker continues to compromise the safety and security of Illinois citizens by protecting illegal immigrants and helping them fly under the radar," stated Rep. Miller. He further described HB5164 as "another radical policy that puts Illinois citizens last."

The proposed bill would permit individuals to change their names after residing in Illinois for three months and allow them to file motions to seal related documents from public access. A Senate vote on this bill is anticipated during the lame duck session in January.

Rep. Miller criticized Governor Pritzker's stance on immigration, saying, "Pritzker has made the decision to fight the federal government on their deportation efforts against illegal criminals, rather than fight for the great citizens of Illinois."

For more information, constituents are encouraged to contact Rep. Miller’s office or visit his website.

Representative Chris Miller represents Illinois’ 101st House District, which includes parts of Coles County and portions of Champaign, Douglas, and Vermilion Counties along the I-57 corridor.
