Two trustees from Thornton Township have chosen not to attend a special meeting called by Supervisor Tiffany Henyard. They expressed their reasons in a press release issued on November 24, 2024.

The trustees emphasize their dedication to maintaining the township's essential operations without delay. They are ready to participate in meetings that focus on crucial matters such as approving bills, renewing insurance, establishing a new bank account, and passing the tax levy compliance report.

However, they oppose Henyard's decision to include what they consider non-essential items in the meeting agenda. Their primary concern is her attempt to fill a trustee vacancy without following due process. The trustees view these actions as misleading for residents and an attempt to divert attention from important issues.

They urge Supervisor Henyard to concentrate on urgent operational matters and avoid personal agendas or distractions. The trustees assert that decisive action is needed to protect the township's future.

"Our priority is and always will be to serve the residents of Thornton Township with transparency and accountability," stated the trustees. "We remain steadfast in our commitment to the township’s integrity and the trust placed in us by the community."

The Board of Trustees plans to take necessary measures to fulfill its critical obligations while upholding governance integrity and democratic processes.
