Michael Madigan, the former Illinois House Speaker, is currently on trial, facing accusations of leading a criminal enterprise aimed at boosting his political power and benefiting his associates. Michael McClain is identified as an agent working under Madigan's direction. This trial marks a significant moment in the extensive federal investigation into Madigan's 13th Ward political operation, which contributed to ending his long tenure as both the leader of the House and the state Democratic Party.

The sixth week of Madigan's corruption trial wrapped up on Thursday with testimony from Fidel Marquez, who previously served as vice president for governmental and external affairs at energy company ComEd. Marquez spent nearly six days providing testimony since being called by prosecutors last Tuesday afternoon.

During his time on the stand, Marquez detailed how ComEd insiders allegedly worked to maintain Madigan's favor from 2011 to 2019. At that time, Madigan held considerable influence over legislative processes as Speaker of the Illinois House.
