HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital has installed a Narcan dispenser for public use near its emergency department. The dispenser offers free Narcan, instructions for its use, and resource materials to help individuals address suspected opioid overdoses.

“By providing easy access to this life-saving medication, we hope to empower individuals to act in critical moments and save lives,” stated Karla Dixon, Nurse Manager at Good Shepherd Hospital.

The installation was funded by a state grant and a community partnership with the Moultrie-Shelby County Recovery Oriented System of Care (ROSC) Council.

For those struggling with substance use, Good Shepherd Hospital advises reaching out for support through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration national helpline at 1-800-662-HELP (4357).
