The request sought detailed information about both new and active residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023, until the date of the request. The specific details requested included the type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address of the project site, and contractor's name.
As a media organization, we at East Central Reporter are involved in gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
We believe that we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals given our role in disseminating information. We await a response from the City of St. Francisville regarding this FOIA request.
