FOIA Request to Flora City Council Regarding Detailed Information on Council Members on October 15, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at East Central Reporter have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Flora City Council in Illinois. The request was made under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140.
Our request specifically seeks an electronic format list of all council members. The information requested includes each member's name, title, year of appointment, term length (2 or 4 years), and term expiration date.
As a media organization dedicated to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we believe access to such records is essential for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. We also consider ourselves eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals given our role in disseminating this information to the public.
We look forward to the Flora City Council's response and will continue our efforts to keep the public informed about their local government affairs.
