City of Tuscola City Council met Sept. 23.

The regular meeting of the Tuscola City Council was called to order with Brace, Day, Hoey, Morris, Rund, Shoemaker, Slaughter, and Mayor Kleiss in attendance. Alderwoman Waldrop was absent. Mayor Kleiss led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Payment of bills totaling $172,056.94
Pay request for approval but not included in bills - totaling $795,160.07. All are related to the recently completed Meadowview water main project and will be paid out over a period of eight weeks in accordance with the grant requirements:

Mayor
Mayor Kleiss announced Halloween Trick or Treat will be October 31, 5:30-7:30 pm. The Library Boo Bash will be held October 29 from 5:00-7:00 pm. The downtown businesses take part in trick or treat and activities are held in the Community Building.
City Clerk - No Report
City Treasurer - No Report
City Attorney
Attorney Bequette announced he has accepted a position as the lead civil attorney for the Champaign County State's Attorney Office. He will need to step down as our City Attorney. Bequette added he will be in attendance for the October meetings and will help the Mayor and Administrator transition to our next City Attorney.
City Administrator
Administrator Hoel announced the Meadowview water main project is complete. Preliminary grading has been done and some pavement repair and concrete work is planned for later this week. In order to give the soil and chance to settle, the final grading and re-seeding will be completed in the spring.
Contracts and Agreements
Mayor Kleiss asked for approval of a proposal for installation of the water tower tank mixer. The tank was purchased some time ago and the EPA has approved our construction permit. Morris moved to approve the proposal from Nadler Electric in the amount of $14,129.00, for installation of the water tower tank mixer. Rund seconded. VOTE YEA* Brace, Day, Hoey, Morris, Rund, Shoemaker, Slaughter.
