A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to Dekalb County, Illinois, seeking information about vendor payments made from January 1 to September 26, 2024. The request was sent by us at DeKalb Times on September 26, 2024.

In the pursuit of transparency and accountability in local government affairs, we asked for a detailed list of all payments made to vendors during the specified period. The requested details include the name of the vendor, the date of the transaction, a description of the transaction, and the amount paid.

As a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we believe that access to public records is essential for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. This includes holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

We have also requested a fee waiver for this information under our eligibility as media professionals involved in gathering and reporting news to the public.

We await Dekalb County's response and will continue our efforts in promoting transparency in local government affairs.
